Abstract
Hannah Arendt ha sido alternativamente lectura de las derechas y las izquierdas en América Latina. No obstante, sus planteamientos tienen pocos puntos de afinidad con ambas. Los malos entendidos, tanto en una como en la otra, se suscitan por dos razones. Primera: porque su concepto de política es subsidiario de otros conceptos arendteanos en los cuales no suele ponerse reparo. Segunda: porque el lenguaje de Arendt induce a los lectores incautos fácilmente a equivocaciones. El articulista insinúa, finalmente, que la concepción arendteana de la política es una de las más elitistas que se ha elaborado en el siglo veinte y que su aplicabilidad es difícilmente viable en los países latinoamericanos.
