Abstract
El presente artículo se dirige a validar el concepto de potencia en el sistema político internacional. El autor desarrolla una discusión teórica sobre este asunto desde diferentes puntos de vista, para entonces enfatizar en una propuesta más inclusiva. Subsecuentemente, revisa el término de acuerdo al orden y la jerarquía, y concluye apoyando el concepto de "potencia" como un término válido así como aclaratorio dentro del complejo escenario de los Estados Unidos como Estado en el más alto de la actual jerarquía global.
