Abstract
El presente artículo es una aproximación a la idea de revolución de Tocqueville, en él se analiza la obra El Antiguo Régimen y la Revolución. Dicho libro es difícil de ubicar en un marco de categorías rígidas. Su originalidad consiste precisamente en la convergencia de una historia crítica de los procesos que a lo largo del tiempo crearon las condiciones para la revolución, del esbozo de una teoría general acerca de las causas de las revoluciones, así como de una perspectiva sobre la contra-revolución, es decir, acerca de las barreras que pueden erigirse tanto para detener el huracán revolucionario como, sobre todo, para prevenirlo a tiempo. La lectura de El Antiguo Régimen y la Revolución impacta al lector y la ubica en uno de los lugares más importantes de la teoría política, razón por la cual es de suma relevancia releer e interpretar esta obra.
