Abstract
El siguiente documento es una presentación efectuada por el Doctor Carlos Hunneus en su discurso de apertura para el 1o Congreso de Estudiantes de Ciencia Política (2008). Se trata de un análisis del estado de la ciencia política en el país, haciendo hincapié en el interés en el momento actual y en la labor que debemos emprender. Al mismo tiempo, señala el profesor Hunneus las singularidades de nuestra disciplina para luego analizar los cambios que el sistema político chileno ha experimentado en los últimos veinte años. Por último, se formulan algunas conclusiones para el desarrollo de la ciencia política en Chile y para Chile.
