Abstract
Los conceptos de guerra justa y cruzada permanecen a través del tiempo como elementos legitimadores de un casus belli, desde las tempranas manifestaciones en la alta Edad Media, su cenit en las Cruzadas para recuperar Tierra Santa, y su revalorización en la era contemporánea. La característica es la demonización del adversario como mal inconmensurable y enemigo total, destruyendo el ius belli y el concepto de ius hostis. El ensayo aborda los ejemplos de la guerra rusoalemana de 1941-45, el bombardeo estratégico angloamericano en la Segunda Guerra Mundial, y el enfrentamiento entre Occidente y el mundo islámico.
