Abstract
El texto tiene como objetivo principal la presentación de algunos de los aspectos centrales de la teoría de la elección racional y su particular definición de la política y del lugar que las instituciones ocupan en ella. Junto con dar cuenta de las principales consecuencias teóricas y políticas posibles de extraer de dicha comprensión, el texto busca sostener que las dificultades de la teoría de la elección racional para la comprensión de los procesos y fenómenos políticos dicen relación con su incapacidad para insertar al antagonismo como su componente central e ineludible.
