Author Guidelines

1. TOPICS OF INTEREST
   Revista Enfoques: Ciencia Política y Administración Pública (RECPyAP) publishes original research articles, both empirical and theoretical, in Spanish, in the fields of Social Sciences and Humanities. The journal places special emphasis on Political Science, Public Administration, Political History, Political Economy, Law, Political Philosophy, and International Relations.

2. SUBMISSION OF ORIGINAL MANUSCRIPTS
   Original and unpublished manuscripts must be submitted through RECPyAP’s Open Journal Systems (OJS). The journal accepts the following types of submissions:
   Research articles: RECPyAP receives empirical articles based on qualitative or quantitative methodologies. These articles should be situated within broader theoretical debates in the discipline. RECPyAP also accepts conceptual and theoretical articles, as well as contributions from the field of normative political theory. Research articles must be between 5,000 and 9,000 words in length, including references, figures, and tables.

Empirical articles must include an abstract, keywords, introduction, problem statement, theoretical framework, methodology, results analysis, discussion, conclusions, and references. Theoretical articles must include an abstract, keywords, introduction, conceptual development, and conclusions.

Reviews: RECPyAP accepts brief reviews of books, articles, or other relevant scholarly works. Reviews should provide a critical assessment and a concise analysis of the reviewed material, situating it within the context of the field of study. The maximum length for reviews is 2,000 words.

3. GENERAL FORMAT FOR SUBMISSIONS
   Microsoft Word format or compatible format (.doc or .docx).
   Single spacing, standard margins (2.54 cm on each side), and Times New Roman 12-point font.

The first page of the manuscript must include the title of the submission in Spanish and English. The title must be 16-point font, and the subtitles within the body of the text must be 14-point font. The title must be between 10 and 20 words long, be informative, and accurately reflect the content of the manuscript.
The first page of the manuscript must also include the name of the author or authors aligned to the right side of the page after the title.
In addition, the first page must include a footnote providing the following information for each author included in the manuscript: the highest academic or professional degree obtained and where it was earned, current institutional affiliation, ORCID ID, current email address, and three areas of specialization. The footnote must be inserted to the right of each author’s name.

4. ABSTRACTS IN RESEARCH ARTICLES
   The first page of the manuscript must include an abstract in English and another in Spanish.
   Abstracts must be between 100 and 150 words.
   They should present the topic of the submission from the general to the specific, the objective, the research question and hypothesis (if any), and briefly indicate the methodology used.

5. KEYWORDS IN RESEARCH ARTICLES
   A minimum of four and a maximum of six descriptors or keywords must be included in Spanish and English, following the respective abstracts.
   To support standardization, these keywords should be taken from normalized academic vocabularies.

6. TABLES AND GRAPHS IN RESEARCH ARTICLES
   All tables and graphs must be numbered with Arabic numerals in sequence after the word “table” or “graph.”
   They must have a concise title reflecting their content and must cite the sources used to produce them, even when they are original.
   Images must be embedded in the text and also submitted separately in the original version of the application used, in TIF or JPEG format, with a resolution of 300 pixels per inch and a minimum width of 10 cm.

7. CITATION STANDARDS IN THE DOCUMENT (APA 7)
   a. Notes
   Notes must appear as footnotes, numbered in superscript format. They should be used only for additional text and, exceptionally, for brief clarifications, not for full bibliographic citations. Full references must be included in the bibliography at the end of the article.

b. In-text references
Citations in the body of the text must appear in parentheses, using the author’s surname, year of publication, and, if necessary, page number. Citations must follow APA 7 style.
One-author citation:
(Bourdieu, 2000, p. 31)
Two-author citation:
(Newton & Norris, 2000)
Three-or-more-author citation:
(Aguilar et al., 2003)
Multiple works by the same author in the same year:
If the author has several works published in the same year, letters are added after the year: (Johnson, 2012a, 2012b)
When the author’s surname is part of the narrative, the year and page are placed in parentheses. Example:
As Cascales (2010, p. 22) argues...

c. References
The bibliography must contain exclusively the works cited in the text, ordered alphabetically by the author’s surname. We use APA 7 style for references, as detailed below:

APA 7 is the latest version of the citation style of the American Psychological Association, and at Revista Enfoques: Ciencia Política y Administración Pública we follow this style to ensure clarity and uniformity in citations and references. This style is widely used in the social sciences and ensures proper credit is given to authors and their works.
We hope these examples and guidelines are useful and help facilitate the citation and referencing process in your article.

8. ORIGINALITY STATEMENT AND COPYRIGHT
   Authors must attach, at the time of submission, a Declaration of Originality and Authorization for Publication, certifying that the manuscript is original and unpublished, that it has not been simultaneously submitted to another journal, and that all authors have made a significant contribution to the work. They must also declare that the text does not infringe the rights of third parties and that any copyrighted material has the corresponding permissions. If accepted, the authors retain their moral rights and authorize publication in open access under the license established by the journal.

9. DEPOSIT AND AVAILABILITY OF RESEARCH DATA
   The journal promotes transparency in the use of research data. Authors are encouraged to inform readers, within the manuscript (for example, in the methodology, appendices, or final note), about the availability of the data used, indicating when applicable the repository, access conditions, or the reasons why the data cannot be made public (confidentiality, ethical or legal restrictions, etc.). The journal suggests using institutional or thematic repositories, preferably open access, but does not require a specific section dedicated to this.

10. AUTHORSHIP AND CONTRIBUTIONS STATEMENT
    Authors must attach, during the submission process, an additional file titled “Authorship and Contributions Statement,” signed by all authors, certifying that:
    all listed authors meet academic authorship criteria
    there are no honorary, guest, or omitted authors
    each author has made substantive contributions to the manuscript

The file must explicitly indicate each author’s specific contribution, for example:
study conception and design
data collection or production
analysis and interpretation of results
manuscript drafting
critical revision and approval of the final version

The absence of this supplementary file will prevent the manuscript from advancing in the editorial process.
